Hello, my name is Steve and I have a problem with my 1999 Ford Ranger, for one, the ABS light has come on and now the speedometer has quit working, at first it would not work untill you hit 35mph, and then it worked fine. Now, the speedometer does not work at all until you hit high speeds and I really dont think it is reading properly for the simple fact that it registers 35mph. and you know good and well you are going at least 55mph. to 65mph.. I really hope you can help me out with this question, because it has me stumped and because me and my wife both work and this is my only transportation. (I'm a poor boy you know, ha ha) anyway, thank you for any help you can give me on this problem.

         Steve,

Steve i need  to know if you have 4 wheel abs or  only rear abs?
Ragu, I suppose it is a two wheel ABS, because it is a standard 5-speed, two-wheel drive truck, nothing really special about it, pretty much your run-of-the-mill Ranger, if this is not enough info. please let me know how I would go about finding out whether it is 2 or 4wheel ABS, by the way, Ragu is my favorite spaghetti sauce, ha ha ha, just kidding. anyway thanks for your reply, and I hope this helps, and hope to hear from you soon, again thanks.

Answer
Steve look on the rear end on the top of the center chunk you will see a sensor CK to see if it is plug in if so  you will need a 13mm socket to remove it do so and inspect it .this is call  the abs sensor for the rear diff.replace this and it should take care both your problems. ONLY get it from the dealer.
