GM-GMC: A/C comp fuse blows, chevy silverado, fuse blows

Question
I have a 2005 Chevy Silverado 1500.  When I run the A/C, the A/C compressor fuse (10 amp) blows.  I have replaced it and the A/C blows cold for a few minutes and then the fuse blows again.  Any idea what the problem may be?

Answer
If the fuse blows that indicates to me that you have a dead short somewhere in the circuit. It is likely in the a/c compressor clutch. You should be able to test the restance of the compressor clutch coil and see if it is excessive which will cause the fuse to blow, or take is to your local well trusted garage and have them look into it for you.  Typically you can service the clutch seperately and don't need to replace the entire compressor but I am not 100% sure on that for the 05 models.
hope this helps
