GM-GMC: truck bucks or backfires then runs fine, mass air flow sensors, air flow sensors

Question
I have a 2005 Chevrolet silverado with the 5.3 vortec. My truck is jerkin or bucking feels like it dies for a second then instantly runs fine it will do this usually after its been running down the highway at a constant speed about 60mph. Here is my list of what I have already replaced o2 sensors but it is still bringing up bank 2 sensor 2 code when I pulled them out when gutting the cats they were black now they are white but its been a year since they were gutted so that cant be the problem, fuel pump, fuel injectors and rails, spark plugs, crank position sensor, and the cats are gutted.     thanks keith

Answer
If you have 'gutted' your cats you will likely never get rid of that code.  The sole purpose for the position 2 sensor (post catalyst) is to monitor its efficiency.  If the sensor starts to see an oscillating reading, which it would if you have removed the 'guts' than it will set a fault code.  An engine needs a certain amount of back pressure to work efficiently, removing the guts of the cat's would certainly change that, would it cause your concern, possibly but not likely.  If you have covered the fuel delivery side of things you may want to look at the air metering side of things.  If you know of someone with a similar truck try swapping the mass air flow sensors and driving it to see if it fixes your concern.
Hope this helps
