GM-GMC: Allison Trany in older models, allison transmission, gm dealer

Question
GM will put the Allison transmission in trucks with a diesel.  For a while they offered that transmission in the larger gas engines.  Where can I find information about the option of an Allison transmission for model years 1998-2005?

The only thing I could recommend would be to stop in to your local GM dealer and inquire at the parts dept.  They may be able to look in their catalogues and find some info for you.  I am not a tranny specialist and to be honest cannot ever remember seeing an alison behind anything but a duramax.
