GM-GMC: 1990gmc jimmy, engine cranks, plug wires

i just put on a new distibuter and plug wires and went to start it and it acts like its goin to start but then stops and starts agian what would cause this

Answer
I assume that the engine cranks over fine but will not start and idle properly.  If that is the case, chances are something is not installed correctly.  Trace the wires and ensure they go to the correct locations, just quickly double check anything else you have worked on.  I did the same thing this weekend on a 92 full size, too rushed I guess and I switched two of the wires.
