GM-GMC: Brakes, wheel cylinders, decent shape

Question
i have a 1994 chevy s-10. the brakes squeaked for about a day and than quit working totally. i took it in and the shop said i needed new rotors, calipers pads, and hoses. the pedal just goes to the floor indicating that there is no brake pressure. i dont think it is all that because i have ripped into it myself and it all doesnt look bad. any thoughts on what it could be as i dont think all of that is necessary to be replaced. any thoughts?

Answer
Generally if the pedal falls to the floor it is one of two things.  One, you have a leak somewhere or two, the master cylinder is malfuntioning.  If  you don't notice any leaks and your fluid level remaings constant it is likely your master cylinder however, look at your rear wheel cylinders they are prone to leaking.  As far as the other parts you mentioned, you should be able to tell for yourself if the pads have sufficient material remaining and if the rotors are in decent shape.  The hoses are easily inspected for cracks or other defects and as long as you calipers move freely on the slides and the pistons move in and out they too should be servicable.  If you feel your being set up, find another garage that you can trust.  Ther are still a few around.
Hope this helps.
