GM-GMC: TIRE SIZE, 4x4 trucks, jeep wrangler

Question
QUESTION: HI, I HAVE A 1996 SILVERADO 1500 2WD EXT.CAB AND NEED TO GET NEW TIRES. I WANT TO GET A BIGGER TIRE FOR THE STOCK RIM IF POSSIBLE. I WANTED TO ASK WHAT SIZE WOLD FIT 245/70/15 OR 265/70/15 OR THE Rims off 2007 Jeep Wrangler. Bolt pattern is 16"x5x5" - 16"rim with 5 lugs on 5" center. Tires are Goodyear 245/75/16.
THANKS FOR YOUR TIME,
DAVE

ANSWER: If you wanted to go with a larger tire, your best bet would be to go with the 265/70r15 tires on your original rims.  I would doubt that the jeep rims would fit and they would likely look a little strange.  It is possible to recalibrate your BCM with a different tire size so that your speedo etc is not affected.
Hope this helps.

QUESTION: THANKS FOR GETTIN BACK SO SOON!!!! I JUST LOOKED UP THE SIZE AND IT ALSO COMES UP WITH 30x9.5 R15! IS THIS THE SAME?

Answer
That size will be very close.  30x9.5r15 is a common size for some of the chev and gm 4x4 trucks.  It will be a bit of a squeeze to fit tires that size tire in the wheel wells of a 4x2, they may scrub a little on sharp turns, but they will fit.
good luck
