GM-GMC: 1997 Gm Sunfire, cylinder walls, waterpump

Question
The car overheated so I replaced the waterpump and the thrmostat. Then when I started the engine it runs three seconds then shutdown. I have tried to start it many times and it will not stay running.

Answer
Prior to this was it running !

Pull the dipstick (Oil) look at it and see if the oil is black , or has antifreeze in it ?

How bad did it overheat ?
How Long was it overheating , before you did the work ?
Are you mechanically inclined?

When you installed the thermostat , did you install it the correct direction ?

When you try to start a vehicle and it does not start you get BLOW BYE . The gas is not igniting , Therefore it is washing past the pistons along the cylinder walls , into your oil pan . If you tried ALOT to start the vehicle , you must first change the oil!

There is a catch !! If after you change the oil and you still have issues starting your vehicle , AGAIN , you will have to change your oil ,otherwise it will not start again,,

Basically :: You are FLOODING the engine !!!

Let me know !!1
