GM-GMC: 94 gmc seira 4.3 ?, oil sending unit, engine knock

Question
QUESTION: how do i time my truck
also my oil gage is reading 0 after it warms up i have changed the oil sending unit the truck will shut off when it turn the wheel to the left after the gage reads 0 can you help

ANSWER: Are you mechanically inclined . Do you have a timing light and/a meter . When you first start your truck is the gauge up to say 40psi? Where is it at? Turning the wheel to the left . Maybe the idle is set too low , therefore when you bottom out the turn ratio you kill the engine . Raise your idle by pressing on the pedal alittle . Rev up to 1500-2000 rpm then try doing the turn to the left . Does it still happen ? If so you then need a tune-up .The chance on having a wire somewhere that is shorting out your computer . YOu also have an idle sensor . These go bad as well .

Answer
I would start with the basic :

Change out the following :

Cap / Rotor / Plugs /Plug Wires /

Possible Idle Positioner Switch IPS : This controls your idle :

Do not touch your timing , this should be fine , for now .

Try replacing the tune-up parts and see how much better it is .

You might have a bad Oil sending unit : If you have no engine knock when the oil pressure is at 0 psi..
