GM-GMC: rotor removal, chevy 4x4, retainer ring

Question
i broke some lugnut studs and was wondering how to get the rotor off it is a 1978 chevy 4x4 with lockout hubs

Answer
Jerami,  this job is not too hard, you just need the right tools.  remove the caliper and set  it of to the side (hang it on a wire). remove the 4 x 4 hub cap (maybe six small screws), once inside the hub remove the retainer ring for the axle then the bearing nuts. Just remember the order in which the come out for reinstalling the parts. depending on which model of hub you have you will require a special socket to undo the bearing nuts (lock nut and adjuster nut) There should be a lock washer with a guide pin between the two nuts. this has to be re-install in the same manor it is removed. once you have the rotor off go ahead and hammer out the old studs and replace them with the new ones. There is a special tool to install the new ones with out causing any stress to the stud threads or lug nuts. If you dont have this tool i sugest you use a lug nut and some larger washers to pull the stud in to the rotor(turn the lug nut around).  When you put the rotor on again make sure your bearings are greased. put the first nut on and torque the bearing only untill the play comes out of the hub. (do not force preaure on the bearing. only enought to install the lock washer).   Got It?   Good Luck!
