GM-GMC: Head Removal, nylon cable ties, holden rodeo

Question
Hi there, I live in the country in Australia and have a lot of trouble getting advice.
I want to remove the head from an Isuzu motor (I know its nota GMC but like I said I came across you and hope for the best)
I want to remove the head without distubing the timing chain. Do you have any info on this.
Any advice would be much apprieciated.
Thanks from Australia
PS the car is a 84 Holden Rodeo ute, 2.4 Isuzu motor

Answer
Alan,

I do not know about your specific motor.  You will have to find a way to hold the timing chain up while removing the head, getting the head serviced, and during replacement.

This is usually accomplished with pieces of wire.  The trick is not to let the chain go slack at any time.

You may also be able to use nylon cable ties to help keep the chain in place.

That is all that I can recommend.  Good luck.
