GM-GMC: Distributor, screw hole, cap screw

I Changed out my Distributor Cap and button. Upon screwing down the New  distributor i broke the Distributor housing Screw Hole. Now the Distributor is only tight on one side.   Any Suggestions . 1998 serria ext cab 4.3 1500

If you are describing the the ear on the plastic distributor cap, you should buy another distributor cap to solve the problem.

If you are describing stripping out the threaded hole where the distributor cap screw is inserted, the housing on the distributor will have to be drilled and tapped for a threaded insert.

Labor cost could be high enough that buying a rebuilt (or a salvage yard) distributor is cheaper.

Either way, all screws need to be tightened properly to ensure that the spark flows properly from the coil to the spark plugs.
