GM-GMC: Chevy s10 fuse trouble, chevy s10 pickup, fuse block

Question
I have a 1996 Chevy s10 pickup.  I recently lost power to my
interior light and horn.  I checked the fuse pannel, found the
blown fuse, and replaced it.  A day later, it had blown again.
Now, when I try to replace the fuse, it immediatley blows as
soon as it makes contact with the fuse pannel.  According to my
fuse block information, I am replacing a 20A fuse in the "CTSY"
position.  Do you have any thoughts or suggestions that may
help me out?

Answer
You have a short to ground and that causes the fuse to blow.

The easiest part to check is the horn.  Try unplugging the connector at the horn and see if another fuse blows.  If it does, you will need to check the interior light switch and this probably will have to be done by replacing it.

If that does not help, the wiring to the horn and to the interior light (likely to be very hard to do for the light)needs to be checked for insulation that has worn away (or maybe burned away).  Repair or replace the wiring and that should cure the problem.

This work may be best accomplished by a reputable shop.
