Question -
If I put in a high flow intake filter system and/or a new exhaust on my 2002 Silverado, do I need to do anything to the onboard computer? I am just looking for some better gas milage and a better "Truck sound."
Thank you,
Jerry
Answer -
The intake modifications, if placed before any sensors, should not affect anything on your engine.

The exhaust modifications might cause a trouble code to be stored in the computer and the "Check Engine" or  "Service engine Soon" light to turn on..  Some vehicles are more sensitive to this than others.

The computer will allow for some changes in the intake and exhaust systems, as described above, and there is nothing that you need to do to it.

First off,
Thank you for answering my original questions.
Secondly,
Is there anything that I could do if the "Check Engine" light starts to light up after changing the exhaust(Cat back)?

Answer
No, the computer would have to be reset and then watched to see if the code reappeared.  Reset procedures vary between the different car makers and vehicle years.

With a "cat-back" system, you would likely be okay.  The last of the sensors are located in the catalytic converter and would still be present after installing a new exhaust of that type.
