GM-GMC: 6.2 diesel, 350 chevy motor, chevy motor mounts

Question
Hi, I was wondering  if you knew if the 350 has the same motor
mounts as the 6.2 diesel. I am thinking about putting  the diesel
in my 95 wrangler. And was wondering if i could buy the bolt in
motor mount kit for the 350 and use it on the diesel. Do you
think this would be agood swap into the wrangler. What is your
opinion on the 6.2 diesel? thanks, Also, how can I tell if I have a
short tail transmission? Thanks, Josh

Answer
I like the 6.2 diesel, but diesels are not for those owners who do not understand them and/or will not maintain them properly.

I have been told that 350 Chevy motor mounts have the same center (rubber) parts as those for the 6.2 diesel but the brackets are different on the diesel.

A 6.2 diesel is about 200 pounds heavier than a 350 gas engine.  That may not sound like much, but it can cause suspension problems for vehicles that are not built to handle the additional weight.

I recommend you research some Jeep forums or magazines about converting your Jeep to a 6.2 diesel.  Others who have converted will be able to help you avoid problems with the installation.
