GM-GMC: My Truck, chevy c, vacuum leak

Question
I have a 1997 Chevy c/k 1500 Silverado.  As I accelerate the engine beings to die down and bog.  I don't know if its too rich or too lean.  It is backfiring as I accelerate and the more I accelerate the rpms will not go down.  I hooked up a code scanner and it read "MAF or VAF Low volt input"
Thank you

Answer
This is far afield from diesel engines.

"MAF" is likely "MAP" and it stands for "Manifold Absolute Pressure."

You either have a defetive MAP sensor or something, such as a vacuum leak, causing the MAP sensor to input the wrong voltage to the computer.  Backfiring is usually caused by running lean.

I do not know where the sensor is located on your engine.  On some vehicles, it is on the firewall.
