GM-GMC: alternator, negative battery cable, battery cables

Question
I just had to replace my alternator... i thought everthing was a go, until i turned the key and there was absolutly no thing, i have replaced the battery, im pretty sure all the wires are hooked up properly, the battery is fully charged and all... but still nothing.. do you have any idea what could be wrong? im think a ground problem?

Answer
Try turning on your headlights.

No lights?  Positive and/or negative battery cable is not attached securely.

If you get the lights to turn on, see if they dim when you try to crank the engine.

Dim when cranking?  Low battery or starter problem.

No dimming?  Starter or ignition switch problem.

Battery cables can corrode under their insulation.  Check them carefully.  Also check the negative battery connection for a corrosion free contact with the engine and/or frame.
