GM-GMC: modulator valve, chevy c, vacuum modulator

Question
i am trying to locate the vacuum modulator valve on a 1984 chevy c-10 with the 305 (H) and the 350 transmission

i think it might be on top but i cant see it
do you know if it would be on top, on the side, etc?

also do you know if it is possible to replace it without dropping th transmission?

im sorry this is not about diesel but i assume this transmission is available on some deisel models too

thank you for any help you can provide

Answer
I don't think the 350 automatic was used with 6.2 diesels.  They had either a TH400 or the 700R4.  I have one of each in my vehicles.

At any rate, my 1984 GMC shop manual shows that the modulator is located on the passenger side rear of the 350 transmission, just above the oil pan.  It is supposed to have a vacuum line running to it, so it should be easy to recognize.

Unbolt the hold down bolt, and the modulator pulls out of the transmission.  It goes back in just as easily.

Torque on the hold down bolt is 12 ft-lbs.
