GM-GMC: Rear Transmission Seal, automatic transmission fluid, loc tite

Question
I am going to attempt to change the rear seal on the auto trans.(D,3,2,1) in my 1998 Chevrolet C1500 Extended Cab 2wd 5.0l due to a small leak from the end of the trans. tailshaft output...I know i have to remove the two piece crankshaft...The question...Does the seal just slide out and in without any special tools, does the center support bearing mount and rear yoke bolts have special torques (Lock-tite?), and is there any special tricks or precautions I should know?

Answer
Generally, the rear transmission seal can be pried out of its housing after removing the driveshaft.  You might want to park the vehicle "nose down" to minimize the amount of automatic transmission fluid that will run out when the driveshaft is removed.  The new seal will tap back in and I prefer using a rubber mallet for such work.
There is likely a torque value for the center bearing.  None of my shop manuals are anywhere near that new and I cannot provide you with the numbers and/or if Loc-Tite is used.
If you hace an honest dealer around, you might be able to get the information from the service department.
Be sure and mark everything so that you put it back together exactly as it comes apart.  Failure to do so can lead to vibrations that were not present before replacing the seal.
