GM-GMC: 2000 Suburban 1500 V8 5300 - 90K, mileage vehicles, battery cables

Question
Lights flicker/dim in relation to volts not always remaining constant. Have tested alt & battery which test good. Sometimes when starting car will run very low volts and have to rev gas at stop light to keep it running.

If turn off and go into a store for 15 minutes and return it will run perfect again.

Answer
By WHAT method did you test the battery and alternator ?. Did you check for corroded battery cable ends or loose connections at the starter post ?.

Many times on high mileage vehicles the battery cables tend to corrode internally and this corrosion is NOT visible from the outside appearance.

I would have BOTH the battery and the alternator tested at most any large parts store if you take them OFF the vehicle and hand carry them in as they will test them for FREE.

I also suggest that you replace BOTH battery cables.

Also check for corroded, discolored terminal connections at the alternator also.
