Hyundai: 2K Tib, bumper to bumper warranty, contour changes

Question
My son is considering buying a 2000 Tiburon. I don`t know anyone who has one or any other Hyundai for that matter.  Is this a poor choice in   1st cars or would a new honda civic be better?

Answer
I have a 98 which is identical to the 2000 model other than a few body contour changes and lighting.

I've put 30,000 miles on my car and have not had a single problem other than a broken sunvisor.

The Civic is a great all around car, but the price doesn't justify the quality.  My neighbor owns a 98 Civic and has gone thru two power windows, paint problems, and air conditioning problems.  He often regrets spending so much on the "name".  But, that's just one instance.

I'd say the Tiburon is an awesome car for the money and a 10 year powertrain 5 year bumper to bumper warranty, 5 year Roadside assistance can't hurt either.

As a Tiburon owner of 2+ years I can easily tell you that Hyundai is NOT the company that it once was.  All of the Hyundai lineup has seen tremendous changes in the quality of it's fit-and-finsih and drivetrain refinement.

The only thing that might be of concern is finding a good dealer/service department.  While Hyundai's technology and quality has grown by leaps and bounds, it's dealer network could use some work.  But if you can find a good dealership you'd be golden.
