Hyundai: `95 Elantra performance, vacuum line, fuel filter

Question
I have a `96 Elantra with 75K miles.  Trans has been rebuilt recently.  I notice when I accelerate, the car is having difficulty revving.  Once it is at 45-55 mph, it is fine.  Is this an indication of a possible problem?

Please advice.  Thanks in advance.

Answer
Sounds like it could be a multitude of different things.

Did it start doing it immediately after having the new transmission installed?  If it did, then the shop probably forgot to reconnect a vacuum line or something to that affect.

Otherwise, I'd suggest a complete tune up.  Fuel filter, bottle of injector cleaner, air filter, plugs, oil change, PVC or EGR valve, coolant flush.

It sounds like the car is suffering from a lack of power more than anything.  Once you hit 45-55mph the engine makes more power in that rev band and so it probably seems like the car fixes itself.

If the tune up doesn't help you'll need to see a mechanic.  With that many miles my FIRST guess would be a clogged fuel filter or dirty gummed up injectors.
