Hyundai: hesitation, vacuum lines, vacuum line

Question
my 1987 hyundai excel starts just fine in warm or cold weather. It does have a severe 2 to 3 second hesitation going through the five shift upshift, until crusing speed is reached. Then, everything is fine. Could it be a faulty vaceum advance? thanks for your help.

Answer
Allexperts must be having problems, because I only recieved this email two minutes ago.

I'm not much of an expert when it comes to the older model Hyundais.  I'm assuming the car is an automatic if you assume the problem could be a bad vacuum advance.  It's very possible that could be the problem.  A bad vacuum line coming off the intake manifold could produce enough vacuum to shift thru 1-4 but not enough for 5th gear.

You'd probably have to poke around the engine compartment inspecting all your vacuum lines.  Especially for an 87, a car that old usually suffers from deteriorated vacuum lines.
