Mercedes: Smart key, lock smith, smart key

Hi There.
I recently bought a 220 cdi estate from 2002, when trying the spare key, the led functions but that is all. Went to dealer, said it needs a new key.... Is there no repair? How do i even know it belongs to the same car?

Sorry Rui, I am not familiar with this type key. You may want to locate an auto lock smith to discuss the key with them. The Dealer may be the only place you can get a replacement key or have your key reprogrammed.
It is very expensive to have keys replaced because of this issue.
