Mercedes: 2003 Mercedes E320 Drivers sun visor, 2003 mercedes e320, sun visor

Question
QUESTION: The horizontal pivot rod binds internally. The visor has a sock-like cover and cannot be disassembled. It costs $235. to replace. A Salvage replacement seems not availible.
Do you know of a less expensive MB parts source or perhaps a repair that I has not occured to me?

ANSWER: Ted,
Please re phrase your question... Are you talking about a sun visor?  If so is the visor not rotating on the shaft, or is the a problem with the covering. etc.

QUESTION: Sorry. I write in short-hand sometimes...  and yes, I'm talking about the Driver's sun visor. It won't stow flush to the overhead when not in use. When you need to position it for sun blocking, because it moves so hard, it takes two hands to get the job done. I've had the thing off and can tell that the rod the visor rides on is binding. You can expose the rod by pulling the visor away from the bend-end, but it does not come all the way off. I tried lubricating the rod then reassembling. This didn't help.

Answer
Ted,
I was going to recommend applying silicone lub in to the tube. Is the shaft removable from the visor tube. If so, you may try swapping the driver and passenger units. This depends on the design of course.
Without seeing the visor, it is difficult to offer suggestions. A salvage yard my be your best bet. I would think a visor could be purchased for  40.00 to 75.00. An Ebay search revealed several visor for sale there.
Hope this helps.
