Mercedes: Turn signal switch, hazard flashers, type fuses

I have hazard flashers but neither turn signal works on my 1975 450sl. Could it be the switch or a fuse? What year parts will interchange? I did find a switch off of a 1972 on ebay will this work?

I would first check the fuses, the slug type fuses are notorious for corrosion especially if they use an aluminum conductor and tips. Find the fuse layout if the box is under the hood, it is usually under the lid.
Take the fuses out and replace with new. Clean the fuse clips before installing the new fuses.
If the fuses are good, the next thing is the turn signal relay. It may have failed.
