Mercedes: 1989 Mercedes 300te dashboard lighting doesnt work?, fuse box, bullet type

Question
Hello
I purchased 1989 300te . Just found out that the dashboard lighting doesn't work- is there a dial or switch for this? Or perhaps a fuse issue? Any advice would be much appreciated. thank you!

Answer
Heidi,
You should consult the operators manual regarding dash brightness control, each model may be different and that should be your first place to look. If you do not have on for the care, you may be able to 'google'it and locate one.
The manual will also tell you the location of the fuse box. Fuses of the bullet type are notorious for getting oxidized and causing a high resistance and making thing inoperable. If the fuse if blown, it should be readily apparent as the fuse will be burned in two.
Once you locate the correct fuse base on the diagram, I would remove it from the holder and take some very fine sand paper and clean the tips, also clean the spring holder.
If it is a knife type then you just need to replace it.
Good Luck
Let me know if you find the culprit.
