Mercedes: 1984 300D 200,000 miles service, diesel fuel filter, detergent action

Question
What are the systems that need a tune up at 200,000 miles?
What does Mercedes recommend for the 300D 200,000 mile service?
Thanks

Answer
Jamie,
I am not familiar enough with the 300D to give you specifics about the proper tuneup.  In general terms however. Obviously there would be no ignition items, except checking the battery condition of course.
Diesel fuel filter certainly need regular changing.
If you have a automatic with high miles and it is performing without slippage and the fluid looks good, it would NOT be a good idea to change the fluid unless you know for sure that it has been changed on a regular schedule. Changing fluid on allows detergent action of the new fluid to wash off a lot of aged components and many time you will see the transmission fail because the cleaning allow the clutches to slip.
I might suggest that you pose any specific questions to the Mercedes forum at benzworld.com.
Good luck with your quest.
