Mercedes: 1984 300D turbo Diesel, cylinder head gasket, blown head gasket

Question
When running the car heated up past 120 on the temp gauge, so I stopped driving it.  Since then I have changed the thermometer and the water pump and it did not change anything.  Whenever the motor was running the temp slowly rose until it got up into the 120 area again and I shut it off.  My dad and I noticed that it was blowing a lot of white smoke and what appeared to be oil out of the exhaust while it was running.  We haven't touched it since assuming that it may be a blown gasket and we don't have a clue how to fix that, but upon seeing a video of a blown turbo blowing white smoke from the exhaust I began to wonder if a blown turbo could be my problem.  Any idea what it may be?

99.99% odds that the head gasket was wrecked by the massive over temperature.
