Mercedes: 1986 Mercedes 300E, mercedes benz 300e, fan clutch

Question
My 300E runs fine until setting in traffic for extended periods. The temp gauge rises to almost 120, the electric fan comes on but the temp stays around 120 until the car starts moving, then it will come back to normal. The radiator, thermostat, and coolant are all new.

Answer
Answer:
If this is not a sensor/gauge fault.
My best guess would be (in order):
#1. Bad fan clutch. Requires a special MB tool for R&R.
#2. Air trapped in the system.
#3. Loose water pump belt.

If you have any doubt about which fan clutch is needed simply call or e-mail Phil for assistance.
