Mercedes: 1984 Mercedes 300D, vacuum leak, richard duncan

Thinking of buying this car for $1000.00.  Has 84,000 miles, strong engine but transmission is sluggish (owner suggests a vacuum leak may be the reason).  What say you?  Car has been sitting for a year so if you have any get it up and running right suggestions, that would help too.

84K miles on a 1994 is shockingly low, if true, the car should be in factory mint condition.

Does it have any rust or damage?

I would buy it, if it is low mileage as advertised.
