Mercedes: 190D 2.5, longblock engines, cylinder diesel

I was thinking of buying a Mercedes 1989 W201 190 5 cylinder diesel 189000 miles. The problem is there is a "top end tick" beleved to be a tappet (could it be drawing in air). Question how bad could this be, Would it be very difficult to repair. I know how little you have to go here any advice would be welcome

It is worth a (PPI) Pre Purchase Inspection at the nearest MB dealer + contact Noel's, Reliable source for remanufactured Mercedes Benz longblock engines for the cost of a good replacement engine.
