Mercedes: Should I purchase that Mercedes?, going to las vegas, 300sl

Question
My brother has a Mercedes of a 300 series, probably 300C or 300SL or something like that. It has sunroof and regular rims. It has 175,000 miles. Last month overheated while going to San Diego from Los Angeles (probably a lot of traffic), it also overheated while going to Las Vegas. He said he got that fixed. He has put some money on it. The appearance is good. He is asking for $2000 to $2500 and to take over the payments of $260 for a year. I told her that soon it will have 200,000 miles and nobody will want to buy it. I have other old cars. He says that Mercedez usally last a lot more than 200,000 miles sometimes 500,000 or more. Should I buy this car or let him sell it to someone else?

Answer
Cesar,
About the overheating problem that he said he got fixed, make sure he shows you the receipt. Unless you mechanically knowledged, I would have the car inspected by a certified mechanic. I would also be causious about buying any car with 200,000 miles on it. Mercedes will last 200k+ only if they are well maintained and treated well. Hope this awnsers your question.
Thanks,
Ian
