Mitsubishi: Tranmisson with overdrive?, free diagnosis, engine computer

Hey Dinger, I havee a problem with 1993 Eagle Vision
it automatic on floor, has 3.3 liter v6. The problem is when I first start it up and put in auto overdrive it shifts maybe into 2nd gear or first. The only thing that helps is put in park restart try to drive it then it shifts properly. I have had trans oil flushed and refilled. I have no check engine light come seems to ok I guess my engine computer. Please, help me . sorry for such long e-mail. derald

Hi Derald,

Unfortunately, you appear to have an internal transmission problem and will have to have your transmission overhauled. I would find a Cottman and let them diagnose this problem first. www.cottman.com for one near you. I think that Aamco is doing free diagnosis now too. www.aamco.com for one near you. Expect to pay $2500 for the repair. When you start your car, the computer is putting you into "failsafe" which is second and reverse only and is designed this way to protect the transmission from further damage. Restarting the car resets the computer until it sees the issue again.
