Mitsubishi: 93 stealth, premature failure, gear shift

Question
What's up. Its Jack again,I got my car back and it made it all the way home. However when I put it in 5th and accelerate I felt the gear shift knob move. Its like it tenses up in tune with the throttle every time I hit the gas.I did'nt give it a chance to pop out of gear because I just rode the rest of the way home in fourth to get this thing safely in my driveway! Could that be what killed the car the first time? Also, going into 1st I would grind the gear. I only found 1st's sweet spot a couple of times shifting smoothly.Other than that it rides good. Damn that thing is fast! Let me know what you think. P.S. I did like you said and asked to see the old flywheel and he showed me and it did have a crack but I still think I got screwed. I appreciate all your help through all this you're a good guy. Thanks, Jack

Answer
Hey Bud,

I think your ok with the stick feeling funny in 5th. Trying to accelerate in the gear could cause premature failure of the clutch for sure! I feel he got to you a little, but the crack, he obviously missed the first time he did the job, is the cause of failure. Try not to down shift into first, brakes are a hell of a lot cheaper than clutches and syncros! Get it cleaned up and send me a couple of pics: dingerdave01@yahoo.com

Have fun!
