Mitsubishi: What is wrong with my mitsubishi lancer, cottman transmissions, mitsubishi lancer

Question
Thank you for your answer.  Yes it is an automatic car.  A friend told me that it could be the throttle body that is defective.  Could this be likely.

I would also like an answer to the second question about the transmission.

Regards,
Everton.

Hi,
I have a 2002 1500cc Mitsubishi Lancer with a problem.  The problem is that the yellow engine light comes on when I start the car and remains on.  Also, when I press the gas pedal the car hardly moves and after a while the car refuse to move.

Secondly, I was told that these cars always easily develop a transmission problem.  Is this true?

Answer -
Hi Everton,

Sounds like your low on fluid. If your not low then you'll need your transmission overhauled. Have your car scanned so you will know what that yellow light is. I am assuming this is an automatic, if it's a stick, then you need a clutch.

Answer
Hi Everton,

Well, your discription of the problem sound to me like the transmission is slipping badly. That yellow light tells us there is a diagnostic trouble code stored in the computer. We need to know what it is. I suggest you take it to a shop that can scan your car. I can tell you that Cottman Transmissions will scan your car and perform a complete diagnosis for free. www.cottman.com to find one near you plus download the coupons.
