Mitsubishi: Transmission, malfunction indicator light, 2002 mitsubishi galant

Question
I own a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant ES.  When I put the car in drive it does a big jerk, or delays a bit, but usually a big jerk.  The rest of the shifting seems to be just fine.  It goes into reverse just fine also.  What do you think it is?
Thanks
Dan

Answer
Hi Dan,

Make sure your fluid is up. You didn't mention if a Check Engine Light or CEL is on so I will assume it's a broken engine or transmission mount.

CEL, Check Engine Light also known as MIL, Malfunction Indicator Light!

Thank you for the great rating!

Well, not so great rating, anyway did you have your car scanned? Sometimes this also can be caused by a bad pulse generator (speed sensor) or MLPS, Manual Lever Position Sensor.
