Mitsubishi: Mitsubishi Galant gti -89 High Idle., mitsubishi galant, vacuum leak

Question
I own a galant that has problem keeping its idle rev and is a bit hard to start sometimes. To explain it further:

When i start the car the idle is pending alot between 800 and 200rpm that might be ok but when i drive and the engine is at normal working temerature and press down the clutch the idle is about 2000 and sometimes up to 2500rpm. What could be wrong? Also the car is hard to start up mostly no matter if it is warm or cold.

Answer
Hi Jan,

Is your check engine light on? If it is this will give us a clue to what needs to be done. This problem can be caused by a vacuum leak, but also by a bad sensor. Either of these should make your check engine light come on. Sometimes on these older ones the code will set in the computer but may not turn on the check engine light. There are many repair shops that will scan your car for free. Pep Boys and Cottman Transmission to name a couple. After you have it scanned please resubmit your question with the code numbers. Then we can go from there.

Follow up: Hi Jan, I was wondering if you had your car scanned yet and if so what where the results? Hope I can be of further service.
