Nissan: Door Lock Freezing, 2005 nissan sentra, power door locks

Question
Hi, just before you answer - I'd just like to say thankyou for taking the time to read and answer my question.

I recently just bought a 2005 Nissan Sentra 1.8 manual. Its pretty much the cheapest model I believe. No power door locks or power windows.

Last night was the first really coldest night we had in Columbus, OH. Its about 14 degrees over night and I came out late from work and my key would not work in my door. It actually would not go in the slot all the way and when I try to force it, it went in but will not turn at all.

I was wondering do you know of a way to fix this? Lucky last night I left the passenger side open and open the door lock and I was able to open the door just fine... it seems that the lock mechanism froze up and I am unable to use my key is the only thing wrong with it. Do you know of a quick fix?

(BTW this happened on both side driver and passanger door locks, unable to use key but no problem on using the handle to open the door.)

Answer
The pins inside of your key lock cylinder are corroded and binding up. This prevents the cylinder fromt turnng when the key is installed. Try spraying PB Blaster in the key lock assy. This may not work and you may have to pull the lock cylinder out of the car and wire wheel the corrosion off of it. Its not to difficult but will take some time.
