Oldsmobile/Buick: Service Engine Soon Light came on, cutless supreme, service engine soon light

Hello-My Service Engine Soon Light came on this morning. After I pumped gas, i went to start my car & it stalled out. I was able to restart the car and drive it back home but I was wondering what this Service Engine Soon Light means. What is wrong w/ my car? I am overdue for an oil change, could that have something to do with it? I have a 1996 Cutless Supreme.

A check engine light can be allot of things. The oil would be a good start since in almost all cars the light would turn on with low oil . I would recommend you taking the car down to a certified ASE mechanic and have them look at it .
