Oldsmobile/Buick: windshield moulding, olds alero, windshield replacement

I need to replace the windshield on my 99 Olds Alero. I have phoned around for estimates. Some of the places say they would use the old moulding and others say it should be replaced. What is the real answer? Should it be replace or not? Thanks Ray!

By all means replace the moulding. The reason is most shops will not gaurantee the installation. You run the risk of possible leaks. Though your moulding might look good, it has two years of heat and cold temp. Plus this stuff can easily buckle when pulled off, rendering re-install nearly impossible. Go  with a reputable glass install shop, one that uses replacement GM quality. Check with your local Olds dealer, they likely use one of these people. Remember, most states auto insurance will cover windshield replacement, with no cost to you. Check with yours. Good luck! Ray
