Oldsmobile/Buick: 93 Cierra Turn signals, worse case scenario, left turn signal

Question
Right turn signal works properly, both front and rear. Left signal does not "click". Front and rear left turn signal lights are lit, but do not flash off and on when the left turn signal is selected. Both front and rear turn signal bulbs were changed, but problem is the same.
Is there a separate flasher for the left signal. If so, where is it located? If not, where is the switch to enable the flasher. Is it in the steering column?

Answer
Hi Jim,
Sounds to me that your flasher is bad. These units are a plug in type, easily installed. Found near the fuse box area underneath the dashboard drivers side, they can be either round or square, depending on application. The part stores have them and not very expensive. Make sure you get the correct one for your car. If the new flasher doesn't correct the problem, worse case scenario could be broken or worn out parts in the steering column via turn signal arm switch, or you could have a seperate ground problem. In either case, you'll have to take it to the dealership or a professional who specializes in auto electric. Removing the steering wheel is not an easy job. You run the risk of deploying the air bag. This is a complicated repair better left to the pros. Either the dealership or a shop that specializes in auto electric. Hope this helps! Ray
