Pontiac: Idle Air Control, pvc valve, gm tech

Question
I realize you are a GM tech, but hope you'll have some input on my problem. I have a 96 Camry (70000 mi). My car started, but when I took my foot off pedal, it shut down.  Took it to dealership (Saturday)to be tested and they said I needed an IAC, sparkplugs and PVC valve to repair.  They just called (Wednesday) and said that they test drove with the new IAC and it caused a spike in the electrical system and they have to replace the computer - cost $1000.  They are doing this for free for me.  Does this sound right?  The car hasn't given me one ounce of problem until now. They've had my car for 3 days now. I'm so frustrated.  I feel I'm at their mercy.
Thank you for any help.

Answer
It may have needed the IAC to fix the stalling problem but I'm sure the plugs and PCV were done as maintenance. As far as the IAC spiking the computer, it could happen but not likely. They are replacing the computer for free probably because it is still under warranty. GM veh. have an 80,000 mile warranty on computers.
Hope they take care of your problem soon.
