Pontiac: 95 pontiac sunfire, battery light, pontiac sunfire, abs light

Question
Hi there, just recently I replaced the allternator on my car because all signs were pointing to that as the problem, then every time I started my car after that the battery light would still come on for a few minutes then it would shut off and my car would still run fine, until the other day the battey light came on aswell as my abs light, then the battery light shut off and then i got it home and it died, so then i got a new battrey for it, i got it put in, and now the battery light is still on, i let it run for about 15 minutes and it didn't die, I turned the heat and music on and it seemed fine but it just isn't shutting off. Do you have any other ideas of what it could be? My abs light isn't on anymore though just to let you know, but yeah if you could get back to me it would be greatly appretiated!!!!!!
Thanks!
Lisa
P.S. I have a 2.2 liter engine, it's not a GT

Answer
Sounds like either you got a bad alternator or that wasn't the problem to begin with. The ABS light came on because the system voltage was below 11 volts and the car died because the system voltage became to low for the computers to function. Now that you put a new battery in, the voltage is up and everything will work fine for awhile until the battery looses enough of its charge and the ABS light will come back on and the car will die.
Sounds like the alternator that you put on is working but not good enough. Take it back and get another one.
