Hi Rodney:
Thank you for responding to my question.  I have called my girlfriend to get the mileage, cost of repair and estimate of worth from a used Porsche dealership and will forward the information to you.

Also, would you or another expert be willing to give an expert opinion that the car's value has decreased?

Jill

Hi Rodney:

I wonder if you could give me the name of an expert who could give me a professional opinion on whether a Porsche 911 Carrera 4 with a unibody would loose its value if the front end were smashed thereby making the car a multi-sectioned body.  How much value is placed on a unibody?  Is there any value to the car?

My friend's car was smashed when the car in front of her made a left hand turn and the oncoming car hit the car in front of her and pushed it into her front end.  After being repaired the dashboard would not fit anymore because of the change in the body.

The insurance carrier thinks the car is fine.  I don't.
Thanks,

Jill

What is the mileage on the car?  If the dashboard doesn't fit, then the car hasn't been repaired properly.  If the car is driveable then you can get a realistic opinion from the used car manager at your local Porsche dealer.  Any car that has been involved in an accident that results in frame damage loses a significant portion of its value.  What was the cost of the repair?

Answer
I can state that, in general, any car that is involved in an accident that results in frame damage is worth less, regardless of the quality of the repair work, than it was worth before the accident.  I cannot, however, appraise the value of your friend's car by email.  Take it to a local expert who can examine it in person to determine its current market value.  Hope this is helpful, good luck.
