Saab: 96 saab 900s no fuel issue, fuel pump relay switch, fuel pump relay

Question
QUESTION: Hey Jerry, you sound like the guy I need to talk to. My son-in-law
has a 96 Saab 900s that is not running. He drove it across some railroad tracks and it just shut down. Turns over fine and fires just once but won't stay running. Is there a crash (emergency shut off) switch on this vehicle? Railroad tracks were not severe so it shouldn't have been a big shock. It's not getting fuel. Where to start?

ANSWER: Joe:
Sorry, but my hands-on experience is limited to pre 1993 SAAB 900's only. I can only guess that there is such a cutoff switch. Also, there is trhe possibility that a connection in the fuel pump circuit was jarred loose. I can recommend a website <www.alldatadiy.com> that, for $25/year gives the most comprehensive info on any vehicle that I know of. Otherwise, conside your local library for a CHILTON, or similar aftermarket tech nanual.
         Hope this helps,
         Jerry

QUESTION: Thanks for the answer Jerry. I saw a fuel pump relay switch referred to in
one of your answers I think. Would you consider this a possibility?
And where would this be located. Thanks again for your help.
My local Advance Auto store didn't have any manuals. Guess I need to get over to Auto Zone.

Answer
Joe:
Yes, the fuel pump relay is certainly a possibility, as one of the series components in the fuel pump voltage supply chain. On the SAABS I have had experience with, it is located behind the passenger football outer carpeted wall; you may go over some of my earlier responses  for more detail, including a troubleshooting procedure (as applicable to the older models).
