Saab: 93 Saab 900 s non turbo Clutch master cylinder rebuild, clutch master cylinder, turbo clutch

Question
Hey Jerry,

I am trying to put seals in my clutch master cylinder. I have it disconnected from the pedal( removed circlip and pin)  but in the directions it says   "remove the cluctch master circlip..  I dont see one...    how do I get the piston out to change the seals?   the directions only say  remove clutch master circlip which again I dont see one, and the pededal bracket, and everything is still connected into the MC..  how do I get it out to replace the seals???

thank you in advance

Answer
Dennis:
Although my personal hands on experience is limited to 89 900's and earlier, I think what follows will still apply:

After the pedal pin is removed, you must remove the master cylinder from the car by loosening the outlet pipe nut, drawing out the hydraulic line(pipe), and then removing [from the engine compartment side] the two nuts holding the M/C to the firewall. Once the M/C is out, remove the rubber boot which reveals a circlip holding the cylinder in place. Remove this circlip [being careful to 'catch' the piston should it jump out as it is held in against a spring.] Sometime you need to rap the cylinder downward on a piece of wood to loosen the piston.

Make note of the direction of the seals and replace as appropriate. Reverse the above, bleed the system, and VOILE, you just saved a bundle of $$ by doing it yourself!!!

        Hope this helps................
