Saab: buying a saab, saab 900 s, classic saab

Question
Hi,
I have been looking for a used car and have noticed how Saabs from the early l990s can be purchased very cheaply.
I thought they were expensive cars.  Does this mean that they are junk or that you can't get parts or they are troubleprone?  Would you recommend buying a Saab from the early 90's

Answer
Would I recommend buying a Saab from the early 90's - Depends. Classic Saab 900's, 1993 and earlier are excellent, tough as nails, gas sipping (my 87 gets 37 mpg) winter loving cars. My 85 died at 380K miles, and I am presently driving an 84 w/ 215K and my wife an 87 w/ 200K. Parts are just as expensive as any other car. I get all of mine from junk yards, ebay, or saabsite.com. In my experiance they are very reliable and less troubleprone than most. They can be a pain in the neck to work on due to the engine being backwards.
I would highly recommend against buying a Saab 94' and later ( the engine and transmission are GM not Saab) or a any Saab with an automatic transmission (they are junk)
