Saab: 96 saab 900se, saab 900 se, saab 900

Question
Hi,
I have a 96 Saab 900 SE turbo.  I have only driven the car for ~4000 miles and already the CHECK ENGINE light has come on 4 times.  Is this something I should be concerned about with the car?  Is there any way to tell if the light is meaningful?  (each time the light has come on I have taken the car to get repaired, one time it was an O2 sensor, another time a PCV valve, and the third time it was the distribution cap and cassette.  Now I am on the fourth time...should I be concerned?

thanks,
Jason Stringer

Answer
Unfortunately, unless you take it in, you will not know what is wrong. Most likely not serious, usually a sensor or something electrical....but ultimately it is your call. I would not rush to the dealer, but make ann appointment when it's convenient...check your oil and antifreeze levels, and watch for driveability problems, IE rough running ETC.

Have some weblinks.
