Saab: CLUTCH WORK ON AN 88 900 TURBO, clutch work, clutch pedal

Question
Hi there. First off, I want to thank you for being a volunteer on this service! I wish I had enough expertise in something to do this. Anyway, I have a 1988 900 turbo.  It has 95K miles, and I've owned it for only 7 or 8 months now. When I first drive it in the morning, the clutch pedal squeeks loudly for the first 10 minutes or so and then stops. Then, after I've driven a substantial number of miles, the clutch pedal starts to get some "play" in it. By that, I mean that the first couple of inches that I push it downward, there is no resistance.  And, it gets harder to change gears-I have to really stomp it down, and my gears sometimes grind.  Does this mean I need an adjustment of some kind, or a new clutch?  And, is it possible that I (as a reasonably mechanically inclined guy) could fix it?  I greatly appreciate any advice you could give me!!

Answer
I am sorry, I don't have any tech info for the 900s. I think that your clutch is hydraulic, maybe it could use a bleed.
Here are some potentially helpful weblinks. The townsendimports site has some excellent tech info on it. Try the newsgroup too, if your PC is set up for it.
